Detour Giro d’Italia 2026 – Jersey Betting Preview

The 2026 Giro route is a slow‑burn fuse that explodes in the final 10 days: a 40 km time trial, a savage stack of summit finishes (Blockhaus, Corno alle Scale, Pila, Carì, Piancavallo, Alleghe), and barely a moment for the GC riders to breathe. For punters, the jersey markets are beautifully shaped, clear favourites, juicy value, and enough volatility to keep the Detour Dollars twitching.

Maglia Rosa – GC

This route is built for a metronomic GC rider: long TT, altitude, repeat climbs, and no hiding. It’s a Giro that rewards control, not improvisation.

Jonas Vingegaard – $1.16

He’s priced like the race is already over. The route suits him perfectly, but $1.16 is unbettable unless you’re anchoring multis. You don’t stake serious dollars at that price.

So if you want to play the GC market properly, you look at the next tier:

  • Giulio Pellizzari – $6

  • Felix Gall – $17

  • Giulio Ciccone – $34

  • Egan Bernal – $26

  • Adam Yates – $19

  • Jai Hindley – $34

  • Jay Vine – $41

Yates is the most reliable podium engine. Pellizzari and Gall are the two with the steepest upward form curves. Ciccone is the wildcard. Bernal is the romantic pick with real legs again.

And then there’s the hand grenade:

  • Ben O’Connor – $126   If the race turns attritional, weather‑affected, or chaotic, he’s exactly the type who can survive while others detonate.

Detour GC angle:

  • Favourite: Vingegaard (but don’t touch $1.16)

  • Saver: Adam Yates at $19

  • Hand grenade: Ben O’Connor at $126

  • Value: Pellizzari at $6 or Gall at $17

Maglia Ciclamino – Points

Eight sprint‑friendly days, a few medium‑mountain traps, and a field stacked with fast men.

This is the most straightforward jersey of the Giro.

  • Jonathan Milan – $1.66

  • Tobias Lund Andresen – $4.50

  • Paul Magnier – $5.50

  • Kaden Groves – $12

  • Ben Turner – $19

  • Dylan Groenewegen – $21

  • Arnaud De Lie – $81

Milan is the rightful favourite—fastest here and the most durable. Lund Andresen is the only rider who can match his consistency. Magnier is the chaos pick if the race gets messy.

Detour Ciclamino angle:

  • Favourite: Milan

  • Value: Lund Andresen

  • Wildcard: Magnier

Maglia Azzurra – King of the Mountains

This is the most chaotic jersey every year, and 2026 doubles down with a brutal final block. KOM will be won by either a GC rider who hoovers points by accident or a breakaway specialist who commits their entire Giro to the jersey.

  • Giulio Ciccone – $3.00

  • Jonas Vingegaard – $3.50

  • Jay Vine – $6.50

  • Christian Scaroni – $17

  • Marc Soler – $23

  • Jan Christen – $34

  • Giulio Pellizzari – $34

  • Einer Rubio – $41

  • Filippo Zana – $41

  • Felix Gall – $51

  • Santiago Buitrago – $67

  • Adam Yates – $67

  • Thymen Arensman – $67

If Vingegaard rides aggressively, he can win this jersey without trying. If he rides conservatively, Ciccone becomes the rightful favourite, with Vine and Scaroni the best breakaway options.

Detour KOM angle:

  • Favourite: Ciccone

  • Value: Vine

  • Long shot: Scaroni or Pellizzari

Maglia Bianca – Young Rider

This is the most competitive young rider field in years.

  • Giulio Pellizzari – $6 (GC)

  • Jan Christen – $1.57 (stage‑win indicator)

  • Antonio Morgado – $2.50 (stage‑win indicator)

  • Lennert Van Eetvelt – $151 (GC)

  • Javier Romo – $201 (GC)

  • Alessandro Pinarello – $151 (GC)

Pellizzari is the standout—he’s the only one with a realistic top‑five GC ceiling. Christen and Morgado are the two who can surprise if the race fractures early.

Detour White Jersey angle:

  • Favourite: Pellizzari

  • Value: Christen

  • Smoky: Morgado

And now… the real show: Old Bull vs Young Buck

This year, the Detour isn’t just covering the Giro — it’s competing in it. The legendary Old Bull, Iffy, will take on the Young Buck Syndicate of Dan + Angus in a three‑week betting battle.

Each side starts with $500 Detour Dollars. Each morning, both camps will post their stage picks, one main bet, one cheeky side play, and we’ll track the running total live on the show.

Experience vs analytics. Instinct vs data. Old Bull vs Young Buck. Only one finishes the Giro with bragging rights.
